MISSION

As an artist-led organization, HOA promotes artistic exchange and experimentation between institutions and market agents. We create opportunities for emerging artists, curators, and writers to reflect on their work, position their practice within the relevant global decolonial discourse, develop research and career-defining commissions, and connect with peers.

We forge international collaborations to build shared platforms for incubating, presenting, and discussing common practices and themes.

Our guiding objectives are:

  • To facilitate the mobility of cultural practitioners to develop their practice through greater access to learning, resources, and networks.
  • To foster mutual understanding through artistic practice and exchange.
  • To strengthen international collaborations and partnerships through organizations, museums, cultural centers, collectives, galleries, and networks.
  • To develop a method of intellectual empowerment for artists from socially disadvantaged backgrounds through scholarships, financial, and curatorial support, in order to promote commercial and institutional inclusion in the contemporary art scene in favor of diversity.
  • To encourage critical and engaging practices in decolonial arts and create opportunities for public interaction, dissemination, and appreciation.
  • To promote contemporary visual culture, especially underrepresented practices and practitioners, and contribute to the international critical discourse through our programs.
