HOA-Horizonte International Artistic Residency Program
The HOA-HORIZONTE International Artistic Residency Program, supported by the Fonds Équipe France Création 2024 and in institutional partnership with the French government through the support of the Institut Français, the French Embassy in Brazil, and the French Ministry of Culture, is part of the 2025 Brazil-France Cross-Season. This artistic exchange program, established by Presidents Emmanuel Macron and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in 2023, aims to strengthen cultural ties between the two nations by promoting artistic and cultural dialogue.
The 2025 edition of the HOA-HORIZONTE International Artistic Residency Program welcomes artists from France, Metropolitan France and Francophone Africa for residencies in Brazil, emphasizing exchange among Global South artists. The program addresses contemporary themes such as social, climate, and environmental justice and promotes inclusion, diversity, and multiculturalism, aligning with the goals of the Cross-Season.
The program's core guidelines are as follows:
- Climate and Ecological Transition: Stimulating artistic practices focused on sustainability and environmental awareness.
- Diversity of Societies and Dialogue with Africa: Valuing cultural plurality and strengthening connections with the African continent.
- Democracy and Equitable Globalization: Encouraging discussions on democratic governance and equity in a global context.
The HOA-HORIZONTE International Artistic Residency Program provides comprehensive support to participating artists, including studio space, accommodation, meals, transportation, and materials. With an extensive public program of presentations across Brazil, the program also includes educational strategies aimed at public schools, broadening access to contemporary art.
By fostering mobility and cultural exchange, the program contributes to strengthening Brazil-France relations, aligning with the goals of the 2025 Brazil-France Cross-Season to promote cultural and artistic cooperation between the two countries and expand the impact of global artistic creation.
More information and detailed insights into HOA curatorial approach will be announced at the beginning of 2025.
